Soothing Loneliness through Meditation
Love and Compassion as a Cure for Loneliness
At a time when we are encouraged to maintain physical distance from each other, loneliness and feelings of isolation are on the rise. Loneliness happens when we feel rejected, empty, or alienated from others. It’s a complex state of mind that can lead to depression, anxiety and physical health issues.
Now, it’s more important than ever to enhance our emotional connection with others. Research shows that loving-kindness practice increases positive emotions such as hope and love while reducing negative emotions. The benefits of love are very powerful and special – as soon as we generate an attitude of loving-kindness, we start to feel more calm and joy within, and naturally connected with others.
During this course, we will be cultivating our heart and minds through the practices of The Four Immeasurables. These practices open the heart and bring joy into our lives, countering any loneliness or despair, and deepening our connection with others. We will be sharing these practices together as a group, and making friendships with like-minded people.
