Dreaming of Reality: Sleeping, Dreaming & Dying in Tibetan Buddhism

D7S1 - Padmasambhava's Pointing Out Instructions, and Innate Ignorance

Lama Alan · 92 minutes · recorded January 1, 2019

The Dzogchen day. Lama Alan Wallace settles body, speech and mind, then reads Padmasambhava's pointing out instructions from Natural Liberation while we rest awareness in the space in front, without a meditative object. He separates the ignorance we are born with from the acquired kind, such as racism or materialism, and quotes one of the masters whose texts he translated in Open Mind: the awareness of which you are aware can be viewed as a ray of pristine awareness, and walking up that ray gets you to the sun.
