Meditation, Stability, Clarity: Experiencing the Liberating Power of Full Attention

D6S3 - Atisha on Perception, and Closing the Retreat

Lama Alan · 67 minutes · recorded June 5, 2025

Lama Alan opens with Atisha's teaching that extrasensory perception depends on shamatha, illustrated with siddhis he has seen and Russell Targ's remote-viewing research. He contrasts the effortful path of tantric practice with the Dzogchen alternative: resting body, speech, and mind in complete inactivity until the mind settles of itself. The retreat closes with a four-part loving-kindness meditation in which we dedicate merit to the group's shared aims.
