Module 10: Engaged Buddhism · The Buddha’s Path

Ecological Distress, Awe, and Emotional Wellbeing (Dr Eve Ekman)

Eve Ekman · 113 minutes · recorded April 1, 2025

Dr Eve Ekman on the relationship between our emotions and the state of the natural world, from environmental anxiety to what nature gives back.

The relationship between our emotional wellbeing and the natural world is a difficult one, and an important one. It has several dimensions, from environmental anxiety through to the emotional sustenance we take from connecting with nature, in small ways and large ones, and even in imagination. In this open session the emotions researcher and meditation teacher Dr Eve Ekman guides participants through those connections, drawing on her own experience, on her research, and on the practical tools of the Cultivating Emotional Balance approach.
