What Can Buddhism Offer During an Eco-Crisis (Lama Alan Wallace)
Lama Alan · 99 minutes · recorded April 1, 2025
Lama Alan Wallace on our ecological crises seen through the four noble truths, and the transformation of mind and culture the situation asks for.
“Destruction of nature and its resources results from ignorance, greed and lack of respect for the Earth’s living things. Today, we have access to more information, and it is essential that we re-examine ethically what we have inherited, what we are responsible for and what we will pass on to the coming generations.” His Holiness the Dalai Lama This is a recording of a talk offered in December 2022. Using the Buddhist analysis of causal interdependence, Lama Alan Wallace explores the cultural and mental transformation we need to undergo if we want to protect and nourish the natural environment. Lama Alan Wallace is Samadhi’s Spiritual Patron, and one of the world’s leading scholars, writers and teachers of Tibetan Buddhism. He has been a personal student of His Holiness the Dalai Lama since 1971, was ordained by him in 1975, and lived as a Buddhist monk for fourteen years.
