One Week Retreat - Shamatha and the Four Immeasurables

D1S1 - Welcome, Noble Silence and the Shape of the Week

David Oromith · 82 minutes · recorded August 18, 2025

David opens the retreat Samadhi inherited from the Contemplative Consciousness Network (CCN), and lays out the week: shamatha in the mornings, the four immeasurables in the evenings, and silence in between. He explains what a practical silence actually asks of you, why it is a relief rather than a rule, and how to hold the sense of stillness between sessions rather than only inside them. The session closes with posture and a short settling meditation.
