One Week Retreat - Shamatha and the Four Immeasurables

D5S1 - Taking the Mind as the Path: Watching Thought Without Following It

David Oromith · 88 minutes · recorded August 22, 2025

We turn attention from the body to the mind itself: thoughts, images, memories and desires observed as they arise, play out and pass, without following any of them anywhere. David speaks personally about how this meditation helped with his own anxiety, because it totally changed his relationship with those anxious thoughts: the only power they have over you is the power you give them. He also warns of the version that only looks empty, where you are filling the space by talking your way through it.
