One Week Retreat - Shamatha and the Four Immeasurables

D6S1 - Shamatha Without a Sign: Awareness of Awareness

David Oromith · 90 minutes · recorded August 23, 2025

The perfection of not doing, the one method with nothing to hold: we rest attention in its own nature, simply being aware of being aware, with no object at all. David reads Padmasambhava on shamatha without a sign and returns to the three words, relax, release and no return. He also reads Lama Alan on why solitude is found distressing, that without distractions we come face to face with our own minds with no buffer zone and no escape, and on the six prerequisites for this kind of training.
