One Week Retreat - Shamatha and the Four Immeasurables

D6S2 - Seeking What Is Aware, and the Nine-Round Breathing

David Oromith · 75 minutes · recorded August 23, 2025

The same practice, with one question folded in: occasionally seek out what is that consciousness that is concentrating, then release the question back into non-doing. David sets out the three levels of mind this tradition works with, the ordinary psyche, the substrate consciousness that shamatha dissolves into, and pristine awareness, and is careful to promise nothing. The session also teaches the nine-round breathing as a preparation, without the elaborate visualisations.
