Module 4: Foundations of Buddhist Theory III: The Essence of Karma and Morality · The Buddha’s Path

Session 1 - An Overview & Introduction to Karma

David Oromith · 87 minutes · recorded July 7, 2024

In the guided meditation on refuge and bodhicitta we count fourteen rounds of breath and visualise the Buddha and the three jewels. David lays out the basic law of karma: intention in the mind is what makes an act virtuous or non-virtuous, and karma is definite, expandable, never arises without its cause, and its seeds are never lost. He also touches on what continues between lives. Questions range from free will to why kindness does not stop hard things happening.
