Dzogchen Retreat - The Foolish Dharma of an Idiot Clothed in Mud and Feathers by Düdjom Lingpa

D8S4 - The Substrate Trap, and the Moon Behind the Clouds

Lama Alan · 37 minutes · recorded June 12, 2025

Why resting in substrate consciousness, however blissful and still, is not yet realisation of pristine awareness, since dharmakaya is non-dual with space itself rather than one mind or many. Lama Alan answers questions on reading Dudjom Lingpa's text without prior empowerment, and on what a first glimpse of rigpa is worth, using the image of the moon seen through thinning cloud rather than mistaking it for full realisation. He closes by encouraging the group not to dwell on unworthiness.
