The Vajra Path Module 6: Death, Dying, and Liminality

Module 6: Death, Dying, and Liminality

Ian Baker · 181 minutes

Ian Baker closes the series on the six yogas with phowa, the ejection of consciousness at death, and the bardo it is meant to bypass. He draws on dark retreat, chod and the charnel grounds, notes Niraj Kumar's finding that the Kalachakra tantra mentions neither, its innermost practice being to stop time, and follows the Tibetan Book of the Dead from Evans-Wentz to Timothy Leary and the Beatles. Half the session is questions: less drastic ways of ejecting consciousness, the dharmakaya phowa his teachers advocated, and shamatha as a foundation that can also be a trap.
