Is Desire the Root of Suffering?

Lama Alan · 14 minutes · recorded January 1, 2019

Lama Alan Wallace rejects the idea that desire, or too much desire, is the root of suffering. He says it's not a matter of magnitude, it's a matter of quality: craving-attachment isolates something from its context and sees it as the source of our happiness. Even a little is afflictive, because it is rooted in a misapprehension of reality. With thanks to the Meridian Trust.
