Living with Anxiety: Befriending & Tending to Fears and Worries with David Oromith

Session One - Three Kinds of Worry

David Oromith · 69 minutes · recorded November 24, 2025

The session opens with a guided meditation in which we reset body, speech and mind through mindfulness of breathing, and a second practice in which we watch thoughts arise and pass, labelling them without following them. David sets out three kinds of worry, appropriate, productive and toxic rumination, drawing on an account of the amygdala, then turns to the Buddhist view that anxiety is rooted in fear of impermanence and a wish for control we never really have. He closes on radical acceptance, distinguished from passivity.

Anger and aversion Anxiety and fear Impermanence Patience, forbearance and acceptance Mindfulness of breathing
