Wood Element Qigong

Embracing the Energy of Spring

An eight week course running from March 25th to May 13th

Over the next 8 classes we will be exploring the Wood Element. In Qigong, the Wood element represents the energy of growth, renewal, and expansion. It is associated with the Spring symbolising budding new life and the upward movement of Qi. The Wood element encourages the smooth flow of Qi throughout the body.

CMCK Qigong Wood forms, Taoist Breathing and moving for Health and balance

Practicing Qigong forms specific to the Wood element supports balance and the functions of the liver and gallbladder, cultivating flexibility and nurturing qualities of determination and vision.

Wood helps us to connect with the energy of nature’s renewal and tap into the potential for growth and transformation. Simple movements and flows support our mind and body’s health and wellbeing.

About Dan

I have been practising Chi Kung for nearly 30 years and teaching for over 15. It has been a constant in my journey. In that time I have also trained in various therapies and studied other forms of exercise and movement. It seems like the theme of my life to this point has been a journey towards healing, on all levels physical, mental and emotional. A a journey without beginning or end. With many twists and turns along the way.

As a teacher my main goal is to empower people by giving them a tool that will support development and growth throughout their life. The question I continually ask myself is what is Chi Kung? It seems so vast and so simple, its hard to touch the edges. For me it is much more than just a form of movement for health. I think that Chi Kung has been placed inside a box that can’t contain it, and its struggling to break free from misunderstanding and misrepresentation. Chi Kung is a multi dimensional tool and It comprises form, flows, stretches breathing techniques, meditation and philosophy.

The reason why I decided to call my system Conscious Movement Chi Kung is because I want to feel free to explore the movement, breath and forms without feeling restricted to a one dimensional limited expression of the art.

Comments From Dan’s Students

"I have completed four consecutive Chi Kung courses with Dan Brierley over the last 9 months. I enjoyed every moment of the classes because Dan is a highly experienced and knowledgeable Chi Kung teacher who teaches with joy and passion.

I was an absolute beginner when I joined Dan's class but Dan's ability to break down complex looking movements into simple steps put me at ease and the videos are great to keep practising between classes. There are so many things I enjoy about the courses: The movements and the focus on breathing, awareness and mindfulness, and not to forget Dan's vast knowledge of Chi Kung theory and its impact on the body.

What is different after four courses? I have established a daily Chi Kung routine, I feel more energetic, my lower back pain is gone and I might even be more mindful than before."

"I have been enjoying Dan's Qi Gong classes for about a year now; sometimes with the livestream, sometimes via the recording. I was a complete beginner so am still feeling my way into the practices and theory but have never felt out of my depth or uncomfortable (even when my crane form morphs into hippo!) as Dan's teaching is consistently informative whilst encouraging of finding our own way into the practices.

I find that the structure and pace of Dan's sessions help my beginning understandings, always with theory woven into his explanations and extra help when he can see that some of us have struggled in some way to follow a form. Dan has a gentle attentive teaching style, and his long experience of Qi Gong is evident in the ease, enthusiasm and presence with which he delivers each session."
