Cabbage

How to grow

The first thing we need to know is that there are spring, summer and winter cabbages, the growing method is the same for all of them, but the sowing time will vary depending on the season. (Spring cabbage: Sow in July/August – Summer cabbage: Sow from late February/early March – Winter cabbages: Sow in April/May).

At the time of sowing, it’s recommended to do it indoor and use two or three seeds per module and move the plant to the exterior when it’s 3 inches/7cm tall.  Clumps of seedlings should be thinned out as necessary, pulling excess out carefully, leaving only the stronger stem for module. When moving to the exterior, leave between 12 to 20 inches/30 to 50 cm between each plant.

Make sure to water regularly and evenly to prevent cracked cabbage heads.

Cut cabbage when head it’s mature – Solid head indicates that it’s readyWhen they are ready to pick cut the head with a sharp knife and remove yellow leaves. Remember to leave the stalk as it might produce smaller crops.

Cabbage can be stored in the fridge for two weeks.
